Has anyone played with chiaroscuro techniques in live events? I was experimenting with it last week for a gallery opening, using contrasting light and shadow to create depth. It added such drama to the space; I’d love to hear how others have approached this in their designs.
I’ve used gels with spotlights to enhance chiaroscuro effects, especially for gallery openings — it’s amazing how the right color can set the mood and complement the artwork. Have you tried playing with color temperatures too?
I totally get what you mean about chiaroscuro adding drama. , it can be tricky to find the right balance, though. Last event, I used a single overhead spotlight and had to juggle the intensity to avoid casting harsh shadows on the art.
Chiaroscuro can really transform a space! For my last gallery event, I found using LED fixtures with dimming capabilities gave me great control over the shadows and highlights. It allowed me to experiment with different strengths throughout the night.
