Nailing the Technical Rehearsal

I’ve recently run a few technical rehearsals for some major concerts and I’m reminded how critical they are for success. It’s not just about testing sound and lighting; it’s about getting the whole team on the same page. How do you ensure everyone knows their cue during tight schedules without turning it into chaos?

I totally agree that getting everyone on the same page is crucial. One trick I’ve found helpful is having a visual cue system where we can use colored lights to signal different parts of the show. It’s like having a traffic light, but for performances.

One strategy that’s worked for me during rehearsals is to have a designated ‘cue caller’ who clearly communicates signals to the team, especially during hectic moments. It helps to have someone focused on that aspect so others can concentrate on their roles. Have you tried that approach yet?

I find having a quick pre-rehearsal huddle can work wonders — just like the team’s pep talk before a big game! @lindsey043, how do you usually prep your crew to stay calm and focused?
